The Michigan Aviators recently visited Delta Air Lines' maintenance hangar at Detroit Metro Airport (DTW).

On Thursday, January 7, 2016, the Michigan Aviators visited one of Delta Air Lines' maintenance hangars at Detroit Metro Airport (DTW). The awesome maintenance staff at Delta gave us a behind-the-scenes peak into their jobs and the airliners that they keep in top shape and form. We went inside a Boeing 747, Boeing 767, and Airbus A320 and explored the flight decks and passenger cabins. We even started the APUs (auxiliary power units) on the planes to light up the cabins and turn on the flight instruments in the cockpit. We also got to see some of the maintenance procedures going on that day including WiFi installation in another Boeing 767 and an engine replacement on an Airbus A319. We visit this amazing facility every semester, so don't worry if you missed out! Be sure to check out many more pictures from our visit which are posted under the "Media" section of our website.
